Training Program for Lifts And Escalators – System, Design And Build And Maintain

INTRODUCTION

This training program will enable participants to appreciate and better understand the concept of vertical transportation system, particularly the various types of elevators and escalators. Participants will have an opportunity understand Lift Traffic Analysis and elevator planning and design, the key considerations in monitoring installation works and know what are the current codes and regulations as well as the legal obligations as Owners and Consultants. Finally, Participants will learn about the various serious consequences of improper use and care of elevator and escalator equipment and how to minimize such risks

Session One – [Lecture base with case studies and discussions]

 Brief History  Of Elevators And Escalator

 Understanding components of the basic types of elevators e.g hospital lift

 Understanding the installation process of elevator systems

 Factories & Machinery Act 139/Regulations and latest MS EN81-20:2017

 Learn what are the key safety considerations for Lift Operations

 How to carry out new lift application to JKKP

Session Two – [ Hands-on lift traffic calculations by participants]

  How to plan for elevators in various types of buildings e.g. office,hospital   

  Understanding elevator performance criteria 

  Learn how to calculate Lift Traffic Analysis

  Learn how to apply the various types of operation systems for each building

  Participants will be able to carry out lift traffic analysis on their own

Session Three – [ Hands-on lift design calculations by participants]

  Preparing layout design of elevator system 

  Understand How to Size Lift Shafts 

  Requirements of hospital stretcher type lifts 

  Learn all the Mechanical and Electrical planning and design requirements

  Learn about handicap user requirements and compliance

  Learn about firefigthing requirements and compliance

 Understanding the basic of components of escalator systems

 Understanding the installation process of escalator systems

 Some safety considerations of planning escalators in a building

 Understanting the latest MS EN 115 for escalators

 Essentials of Lifts and Escalators Maintenance 

 Types of Maintenance Contracts and obligations and compliance

 Latest MS Standards for Maintenance

 Case Studies On Maintenance Safety Considerations

 How to carry out basic maintenance activities

 Learn what are the requirements of the Second Schedule of F&M Regulations

UPON COMPLETION

 * Understand the principals of vertical transportation system

 * Learn the various components and functions of the elevator system.

 * Identify the principals of lift traffic analysis

 *Learn how to carry-out ACTUAL CALCULATION OF LIFT TRAFFIC ANALYSIS.

 * Be able design and specify appropriate structural and M&E requirements.

*Understand the basic requirements of Lift Maintenance including carrying out simple checks and complying with statutory requirements on maintenance if lifts and escalators

 * Recognise the various statutory requirements and relevant codes including the LATEST MS EN 81-20 & 50
